The skill file
What is the Glossary skill?
The Glossary skill is how Moonrank's Writer Agent turns your category's jargon into citable pages: terms picked from what buyers actually search, defined in one plain-language sentence, illustrated with one concrete example, and structured identically so machines and readers both trust them.
It's written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to write your own entries, hand it to your content team as the house standard, or let the Writer Agent build the glossary from your query data.
Downloading the playbook is free with a Moonrank account. Tracking which definitions AI answers cite and filling the gaps term by term is what the Writer Agent does.
See it in action
“When ChatGPT explains terms in our industry, it cites two competitors and Wikipedia. How do we become the definition source?”
Your query data shows buyers searching 23 definitional terms in your category; you have pages for 4, and none defines the term in its first sentence — the sentence AI answers quote. The plan: 19 new entries on one template, first-line definitions, one concrete example each, DefinedTerm markup, prioritized by search volume. The top 6 terms account for 71% of that definitional demand — start there.
From input to fix list
- 1
You name the territory
Your category, and any term list or query data you already have.
- 2
Moonrank picks the terms
The Writer Agent keeps terms buyers search and drops internal naming with no audience.
- 3
It drafts on one template
First-sentence definition, why it matters, one concrete example, related terms — identical on every entry.
- 4
It wires and marks up
Entries linked to each other and to the pages using the term, with DefinedTerm structured data.
Everything it checks
Buyer-searched term list
Terms sourced from query data and sales-call vocabulary, not internal naming.
First-sentence definition
"<Term> is …" in plain language — the sentence AI answers quote.
Why-it-matters layer
Context and the distinction from the term it's most confused with.
One concrete example
A realistic scenario, with numbers where they help — never a product pitch.
Uniform template
Identical structure on every entry, so the set reads as one source.
DefinedTerm schema and links
Structured data plus internal links between entries and the pages that use them.
When to reach for it
- Become the source AI assistants cite when defining your category's terms.
- Capture the definitional searches buyers run before they know your name.
- Standardize how your whole site uses its own vocabulary.
- Build topical authority with pages that are cheap to write and slow to decay.
- Give new customers and new hires one canonical reference.
