# Proofreading

Proofreading is not editing. The job is to make the text correct and consistent
while leaving every stylistic choice exactly where the author put it.

## When to use
- A piece is final in substance and ships after this pass.
- Multiple authors feed one publication and the seams show.
- Errors keep surfacing after publish — in comments, or worse, in screenshots.

## Inputs
- **Required:** the final draft, and the language variant it targets (en-US, en-GB, fr-FR…).
- **Optional:** the house style guide, and the project's term list (product names, capitalization).

## Method

What is the Proofreading skill?

The Proofreading skill is how Moonrank's Writer Agent takes a final draft to publishable: a mechanics pass, a consistency pass, and a references pass, each finding flagged with its location, exact fix, and the rule it violates — never a silent rewrite.

It's written as a SKILL.md, a plain-language instruction format that people and AI agents can both follow. Read it to proof your own work in the same three passes, hand it to your editor as a shared checklist, or let the Writer Agent run it on everything before it ships.
